Once at the Main Bus Terminal on campus, walk through to the main concourse, past the social science tower and geography and over the ring road. This should take you to the gardens by Wharerata

Palmerston North itself is somewhat off the main New Zealand tourist route and may be a place many of you have not visited before. If you are traveling from outside Aotearoa-New Zealand then the easiest way to get to PN is via a flight from Auckland. There are half a dozen or so flights from Auckland every day. There are also less frequent flights from Wellington and Christchurch.

If you are traveling though (or from) Wellington there is also one daily (commuter) train which leaves Wellington at 5.15pm every day and frequent buses which leave from either the airport or the central train station, and which are usually very cheap and quite comfortable. The bus/train trip takes around 2 hours.
